CARD 3 – SlidingEasel Card (INSPIRED BY JULIE DAVISON)

DISCLAIMER - FOLLOW ALONG WITH JULIE’S VIDEO
YOU WON’T MAKE THE MISTAKES I MADE.

1.      Tent Fold Card Base – Basic White Thick Cardstock
11” x 4 1/4” scored at 5 ½”
OR 28cm x 10.8cm
Open card up laying flat on your Trimmer,
Cut two lines 1” from each long side from
1” down to 4 ½”.  Cut between the lines at 4 ½”.

2.       Score between the lines at 1” and 2 ¾” from the top,
(which I said 1 ¾” from the cut line in video).
(I forgot to do 1” score line on the video)
SORRY
I did it later a couple of step later.

3.       Add two strips of Tear n Tape to the right side and the left side of the our base card,
DO NOT PULL OF TAPE YET!

4.      Basic White Cardstock – Insert 3 ¼” x 4” OR 8.2cm x 10.2cm
Stamp the Baubles in Polished Pink Ink at the top of the slider on the right side
Stamp the sentiment in Misty Moonlight Ink
on the left side almost level with the 1st Bauble

Punch a small hole in the middle of your insert,
just eyeball where the centre is on the grid paper or measure like I did.

5.       Bring our Tent Fold Card Base back in, where we will stamp the
hidden Sentiment under the flap that becomes part of our slider.
Pop up your slider (This is where in the video 28.27 min mark
that I did the second score line from instruction two)
Stamp with Polished Pink the Sentiment,
trying to make sure that you centre it when stamping.

6.      On cut out piece from the middle of
Tent Fold Card Base to add a hinge.
In the video I said we needed a Basic White scrap 2 ½” x 1”
BUT
I corrected myself and cut the piece down to 2” x 1”
folding in half to form our hinge.
Stick the folded flap close to the inside edge of the slider
with Multipurpose glue. (see video at 31.08 min mark)

7.       Place our Basic White Cardstock – Insert back into our card
so that we can stick the slider to the insert.
You will have your 2 strips of Tear n Tape on either side of your card.
Align the insert to be centred inside your card,
then add some Multipurpose glue to the other side of the hinge
and stick that to the centred insert. This creates the slider.

I realised in the video that I made my insert that little bit too long
so I chopped off about ½” from the insert
(see video at 33.06 min mark)
I adjusted the measurements in instruction No 4
to reflect this mistake.
FOLLOW ALONG WITH JULIE’S VIDEO
YOU WON’T MAKE THE MISTAKES I MADE.  LOL!!!

8.      Blue Trees DSP 4 ¼” x 5 ½” OR 10.8cm x 14cm –
Cut Frame on your trimmer at the 1” mark from 1” to 4 ½”  mark on both sides
then turn to the 1” mark again and trim between the two cut lines top and bottom.
This creates the outer frame to cover your Basic White Cardstock – Thick.
Attach to the outside with preferred adhesive.
I forgot something else, you need to use the Label Me Fancy Punch to cut a finger pull hole in this layer to pull up the ribbon to reveal the slider.
See my first card,Turn the punch upside down to centre it
and cut out the little piece of shape with Label Me Fancy Punch.
Pull cover off your Tear N Tape and stick card together.

9.    Basic White Cardstock – Scrap to Stamp Tree in Misty Moonlight Ink
then Die cut Tree with Christmas Tree Dies
through the Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine.
Attach Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of the Tree on the middle bottom half.

Basic White Cardstock – Scrap to Stamp two(2) Small Tree in
Polished Pink Ink then Die cut Tree with Christmas Tree Dies
through the Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine.
(Video stops at 40.03 min mark, see Video 2 of 2 to continue this card)

10.    Using Multipurpose glue stick your two(2)
Polished Pink trees
to the inside of the slider on either side.
Making sure not to put the glue up too high like I did.
Then we add our Misty Moonlight Tree with dimensionals to the middle of that slider.

11.     Cut 12” OR 31cm Polished Pink Open Weave Ribbon
to tie your bow at the top of your slider with the hole we cut in instructions No 4

12.    2021-2023 In Color Jewels –
Add 3 Polished Pink jewels to the tops of the Die cut Trees

13.    Video Link on You-Tube, I had issues with my videos so there are two videos.

Scrapbooking Global - Stampin' Up! October 21Blog Hop - Tag It

Welcome to October Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop.
Most of you know me BUT for those who don't,
My name is Sharon (Shaz) and I LOVE Scrapbooking and started
Scrapbooking Global - Stampin' Up! FB group in 2017.
Every month we have a new theme to help your creative juices.
We hop along with a group of scrapbooking friends from all over the world to showcase our styles

This month the theme is Tag It!!

Sharni Haines is our Creative Design Team Member who chose this theme.
She is so creative and her style is very unique, LOVE her creativity <3

You may have joined me from Denise Cox's Blog, her layout will be something special too!!

Sooo I created my layout today and I am racing against the clock.
BUT as always I just seem to beat it!!!
I have used RETIRED DSP, BUT you can buy all of the other Stamps & Dies
to create a similar layout...

I knew what photos I was going to use as soon as I started my layout.
A photo of my Dad's Dog Missy, we gave her to her new owners on Sunday.
My Dad passed over 3 months ago and she has been living at his home
BUT she was so sad and lonely <3 So it was time to find her a new home.
A couple in Gayndah wanted her to join their family and their other puppies.

Firstly I started with a piece of Pampered Pets Retired DSP, then
I grab a different piece of DSP to create a banner.
I sorted out where I was going to have some tags and started to create pockets
with some Vellum Cardstock and the sewing machine to sew some slots for the tags.

So where the largest tags which were cut from Tailor Made Dies
I used Foam Adhesive Strips to allow for the tags to slide in and out.
I cut all the tags with the Tailor Made Dies and they have a die to stop the hole from ripping out.
(I realised as I was almost finished that I put them all BUT one the wrong way on the tag)

So this was the basis of my Tag It! layout, so now lets add the photos.
My 2 larger photos have Basic Black cardstock photo mats on them.

Here is the FULL layout, not much stamping on this layout.
Just a few scattered hearts and a couple of sentiments all from the Pampered Pet Stamp Set.

I used the Playful Alphabet to create the title using Real Red Cardstock.

Up next is Sherry Roth with her creation, another fabulous design that will fit this theme.

Until NEXT Month enjoy the Blog Hop and click on the next button or follow the link below if
the button above is not working for some reason.
Cheers Shaz

World Card Making Day 2021- CASE the Design/Designer

Welcome to Studio Shabaz Blog, today I am celebrating
World Card Making Day 2021 #WCMD2021
All around the world there are workshops/classes
being held by Stampin' Up! Demonstrators.
Please join us by clicking on the World Card Making Day 2021 group.

I am a part of a small group of 7 fellow Demonstrators from all over the world
who want to showcase the variety of styles of card making on this very day.
Our friend Vicky Wright formed this FB World Card Making Day group and we all play our part to create a Make N Take card for our demonstration along with a <20 min video.

So I decided to CASE the design/designer, I love to CASE other peoples designs and put my
own spin on it simply by adding a different element or two.
What better place to find inspiration than our very own Stampin' Up! catalogue.
So if you flick to page 13 in our 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue you can see the design I cased.

I chose to use one of my favourite stamp/die bundles from the AC on pg 105
Hand-Penned Petals is a photopolymer stamp set.

Along with the HOSTESS reward Pattern Party DSP AC pg 171

You will see here the Supply List to complete my card.

Our Father's/Husbands/Brother's and Sons tend to get forgotten.
BUT not this month we are focusing on the males in our life, even if it is your pet.
You may have started the Blog Hop with me or joined me straight
from
Courtenay Heuston blog where she created a layout that was a Blast from the Past.
We have 10 Hoppers joining us today, don't forget that you can join us anytime you want.
We hop the 3rd Thurs of the Month.

ALSO I would LOVE to welcome our newest Creative Design Team Member Julia Quinn.
Cannot wait to see what she creates for this theme.

This layout is extremely easy to pull together, mostly stamping with a variety of stamps.
BUT I have really struggled to find just the RIGHT photos to showcase my Dad
through the years...It is just so hard knowing that he is never coming home.
Sooo NO PHOTOS again for me, I am sorry <3

I have loosely followed a digital layout from the web to create my layout.

I loved the ideas of multiple photos on a layout, also the white space.
Unlike this layout I have not included a title as this is another hard one atm.
I started with a piece In Good Taste Designer Series Paperas the basis of my layout.
Next I used a 'C' block stamped into the Sahara Sand Ink and stamped them side by side.

I used the woodgrain stamp with Smoky Slate - from Natural Textures from the annual catalogue to add some interest on the edges of the left side over the top of the block stamped and top right hand side of the layout.

I wanted to add some distressed edges to this layout so I simply used my scissors and rubbed the edges of the DSP until I got the look that I wanted.  Sometimes I was a little rougher and tore the edges BUT that just adds more character.
Then I used our Blending Brushes with Sahara Sand Ink to the edges...
TIP - I ink up a block and add my blending brushes to the block
and blend over my DSP/CS rather than using my blending brushes directly to my ink pad.
This SAVES damaging your ink pads and any cross contamination.

I wanted some other stamping on the page so I used A Good Man stamp and stamped randomly in the top right corner. Words and Hearts are from this set.

I wanted dates on my layout to show the timeline, which was easily achieved with
Days to Remember stamp... Only thing is you have to work out the actual way the calendar is so that you can get your days and dates correct for your month.
France (Frenchie) Martin has the best video with tips and tricks.
I used the Playful Alphabet and Self Adhesive Foam Mounts for the year numbers.
Another TIP- Stick foam mount to your cardstock and run the numbers through
and you will have dimensional numbers, instead of what I did...
Cut the number then cut the foam and tried to stick them together some of them are a bit off.

I used some retired product- Antiqued Corners on the corner of my calendar.
SORRY - If you want them you will have to scour our retired sale pages
Antiques Corners and Slides 152471

To finish off the layout I added some more texture under where the photos will be
once I have decided which ones to add.  I added some scraps of ribbons and then a
quote that says - A Reminder To Never Forget, How much you mean to me.
This sentiment comes from the Holiday catalogue stamp - Nature's Harvest.

Lastly I added another layer woodgrain dsp from Beauty of The Earth DSP
behind my In Good Taste DSP which I textured again with my scissors and blending brushes.

Up next is our newest member of the Creative Design Team

 Julia Quinn

Scrapbooking Global - Stampin' Up! - Let's Strip - August 2021

Welcome to Scrapbooking GlobalStampin' Up! August Blog Hop - Let's Strip.  We have a few Creative team members from the group as well as several of our talented scrappers from all over the world joining us to play along.....It's been a while since I participated and I struggled to get back into the groove to do a Scrapbook layout...You may have joined me from Jill Hamlett's blog or started with me here at Studio Shabaz

Today our Talented Design Team member Sara Levin gave us a FUN theme to play to this month - Let's Strip.

In other words she wants us to use strips of paper/dsp to create a layout... I created my background with 2 different strips of B&W DSP paper from Beautifully Penned DSP, a FREE SAB* product during August and September.  Then I stuck this to a black 12x12 piece of cardstock.

NEXT, I used 1 strip of B&W DSP paper Beautifully Penned DSP from SAB* AND 1 strip of purple paper from Hand-Penned DSP from the Annual catalogue. From the purple paper I cut 9 individual tags with Tailor Made Tags Dies. I stuck these at varying heights on top of the B&W horizontal strip.  I added some Fresh Freesia 3/8" open weave ribbon to the centre strip with a bow to creates one dimension to the layout.

Next I used the Hand-Penned Petals stamp set on some Basic Whisper White cardstock with Mementos Ink and then used matching inks to what is in the DSP to fill in the flowers and leaves.  Pale Payaya, Highland Heather, Daffodil Delight, Mint Macaron. I fussy cut the flowers out and added dimensional to them to the centre circle of flowers and outer edge of the photo mat.  I have used 2 different coloured DSP'S for my photo mats from the Hand-Penned DSP, I used the reverse side instead of the floral side.

Just a very basic layout for my 1st layout in a few months...Up next is the very creative Julia Quinn.  I cannot wait to see what she has created....
